Family tradition has her an orphan, married previously to a man named Augle? She was probably working class, since she was Methodist and had no wedding anouncement in the NY paper, according to Mr. Masquelette. Her husband died without a Will, but she still inherited the Wheeler block bounded by Main, Walker, Travis, & Rusk Streets. She lived as a recluse for some time before she died. Mr. Masquelette's mother told him that one of Hester's daughters (probably Rebecca) kept other family members from seeing Hester Trickey. In any event there was a contest in her estate that Mr. Masquelette is investigating.
