He married Nancy Anne Francis in St Ann Parish, Goochland, Va, 1765. Nancy was born in Virginia 1747. Nancy died after 1823 in Lawrence, Kentucky.

Edward Senior Burgess and Nancy Anne Francis had the following children:

11 i. Garland3 Burgess was born in St Anne's Parish, Goochland, Va December 24, 1766. Garland died 1840/1850 in Floyd, Kentucky.

12 ii. Elizabeth Burgess was born in Albemarle, Virginia 1768. Elizabeth died 1863 in Lawrence, Kentucky.

13 iii. Mary Jane Burgess was born in , Virginia 1770.

14 iv. Edward Junior Burgess was born in Albemarle, Virginia 1772. Edward died 1839 in Lawrence, Kentucky.

15 v. Nancy Anne Burgess was born in Tazewell, Virginia 1775. Nancy died 1852 in Kentucky. Her body was interred in Buchannon Cemeta, Bear Creek, Kentucky.

16 vi. William Burgess was born in Montgomery, Virginia 1776. William died in Fort Leavenworth, Leavenworth, Kansas.

17 vii. John Burgess was born in Tazewell, Virginia February 5, 1777. John died March 1, 1858 in Platte, Missouri, at 81 years of age. His body was interred in Dearborn, Platte, Missouri.

18 viii. Henry Burgess was born in , Virginia 1779. Henry died 1860/1870 in Lawrence, Kentucky.

19 ix. Louvisa Burgess was born in Montgomery, Virginia 1781. Louvisa died 1828.
