Notes

She was only 16 years old when she married Charles. They had to run away to get married.

Rich daughter of a wealthy widow. Charles Carter kidnapped her and married her at her "Uncles" home in Northern AL. She was only 16 and he was 24. He bought a two room log cabin from some Indians. The Veazey family heartily disapproved of Charles Carter. She was gentle, blue eyed, blonde and tall.

They became wealthy together and had 13 kids, 1000 acres, and 100 slaves. They raised a total of 20 children counting grandchildren.

She was called Ferrabet Carter and appeared to be very religious. About 20 years before she died she was injured by a fall from a buggy and had to use crutches for the rest of her life. She was frequently in severe pain, particularly for her four last years.

She is listed on page 61 as (415) of the Descendants of John Veazey by Ann Veazey Davis, P. O. Box 353, Zebulon, NC 27597.

Dear Bill, Here is what I have on FEREBY T. VEAZEY,B ABOUT 1812 in either GEORGIA or ALABAMA. She married CHARLES CARTER. They are listed in MADISON County, ALABAMA, in 1830 Census and in TALLADGA County, ALABAMA in 1840 and 1850.

She had three brothers listed, one died in a Civil War Prison. He is buried in Surrett Cemetery. Parents are WILLIAM JAMES VEAZEY, son of EZEKIEL VEASEY AND ELIZABETH VEAZEY, he was born 22 Sep.1786. He married HANNAH SIMMONS about 1811 in GEORGIA. William died at DESOTO County, MISSISSIPPI.

The book traces your anscestors all the way back to the orginal JOHN VEAZEY, who came over here from Essex, England. The book says that he was born about 1647 in ENGLAND and he married MARTHA BROCCUS in MARYLAND in 1670.

The book shows some pictures of the orginal Plantation in MARYLAND. I am sending the Authors name and address. I do not know if she still has any more availiable but she is planning on rewritting the book and adding any additions to it.

ANN VEAZEY DAVIS P.O.Box 353 Zebulon, NC 27597

I will copy the pages that I find pertinant to your line and put them in the mail.

If I can answer futher question on the VEAZEY's let me know. Aveasey
